REBECCA J. FORTUNE

Ms. Fortune’s practice focuses primarily on business, franchise and real property litigation.  In that regard, she has trial experience as plaintiff and defense counsel in civil litigation matters tried in both federal and state courts.  In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Fortune is the primary attorney responsible for providing the day-to-day legal consultation for a myriad of corporate, franchise and homeowners’ association clients.  She has significant experience with respect to drafting and negotiating complex business transactions ranging from the negotiation of the purchase and sale of franchised businesses to the sale of residential and/or commercial real estate to multifaceted, large scale, real estate development and construction projects.    

Ms. Fortune attended the University of Florida, obtaining her associates degree in 1995 and, in 1997, graduated from Eckerd College with a bachelor’s degree in the field of forensic psychology.  After receiving her undergraduate degree, Ms. Fortune was employed as the Director of Human Resources with Earth Tech, a multinational environmental engineering firm.  As a result of her work with Earth Tech, Ms. Fortune is intimately acquainted with all aspects of corporate operation and governance.

Ms. Fortune received her juris doctorate degree and graduated cum laude from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2003.  She is admitted to practice in all courts of California as well as the United States District Court for the Southern and Central Districts of California, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In addition to her professional practice, Ms. Fortune is very involved with many aspects of the San Diego legal community.  She is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and is active with the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and the American Association of Franchisees and Dealers.
